Kuratorisches Projekt mit 22 Künstler*innen, Rahmenprogramm und Publikation

PUBLIC LIBRARY zeigt ortsspezifische Kunst in der Amerika Gedenkbibliothek in Berlin. Die Arbeiten treten dort im öffentlichen Bücherspeicher, im gemeinschaftlichen Leseraum, mitten in der Bewegtheit von Lesenden und Suchenden in Erscheinung.
Das Projekt umkreist die interaktive, Bedeutungen schaffende und lernende Umorganisation der `öffentlichen Bibliothek´, die sich entlang der Bedürfnisse ihrer Nutzer*innen entwickelt. Es ist eine Art Brainstorming mittels Kunst; das Öffnen eines Diskurses, angebunden an die Vielschichtigkeit dieses so populären wie heute fragilen, vielfach befragten und sich selbst hinterfragenden Teils des öffentlichen Raums.

Curatorial project with 22 artists, supporting program and publication

PUBLIC LIBRARY shows site-specific art in the Amerika Gedenkbibliothek in Berlin. The works there appear in the public bookstore, in the communal reading room, in the midst of the movement of readers and seekers.
The project revolves around the interactive, meaning-making and learning reorganization of the 'public library', which develops along the needs of its users. It is a kind of brainstorming by means of art: the opening of a discourse linked to the complexity of this part of the public space, which is as popular as it is fragile today, often questioned and self-questioning.
